Tonight's run took me down County Home Road, a little way down 127 to Hwy 36, over to 121 and back up to the middle of Greenville. I passed by "Scentral Park" which is a dog walking park that opened in March, 2013. It has a little over two acres of fenced area, walking trails, benches, and off-leash areas. It's a pretty neat looking place to take your doggie for some exercise … [Read more...]

Running at Bucks Corner, Ohio
Tonight was a nice slow seven mile run with a lot of gentle elevation changes. I started about an hour before sunset and the sun was just dipping below the horizon as I finished. It was clear and beautiful, with a nearly full moon brightly visible in the eastern sky before the sun went down. Not much wildlife tonight, but it did occur to me that this area has a VERY high … [Read more...]
Outdoor Research Sun Runner Cap
I know I don't run in the desert, but I do have very fair skin that burns easily. I'm not real fond of sunscreen dripping in my eyes so I figured a decent hat would be the ticket for me. I did a good bit of research before settling on the Outdoor Research Sun Runner hat. A couple of "musts" for me was that the hat had to offer good ear and neck protection (check!), be a … [Read more...]
Hollansburg, Ohio and a Bunch of Chenoweths
For whatever reason, even though I got to bed late last night, I woke up earlier than usual. I decided to take advantage of the "extra" time and get in a morning run for the first time in a while. It was pleasantly cool and the sun wasn't too high in the sky yet. I ran the little town/village/hamlet - whatever it's called of Hollansburg, Ohio. Yep, Hollansburg is small enough … [Read more...]
What’s the Smallest Cemetery in Darke County?
I found an itty-bitty cemetery tonight on my run near Ansonia - Kershner Cemetery. I'm not sure but I think there are only six graves. I'm not normally that interested in cemeteries, but I've been parking by a lot of them (I had NO idea when I started this project that there is a little cemetery about every two miles in any direction you go in Darke County). I don't know … [Read more...]
The Pony of the Hills of Savoy
Tonight was a gorgeous night. Cool and sunny, a rare combo in Ohio in July! I TRIED to get out well before dark but failed, I started running just as the sun was starting to dip to the horizon, and ended well into the dark. Super pretty sliver of a moon, stars were shining brightly... did I mention it was cool? Couldn't ask for better after all the sweaty humid runs I've been … [Read more...]
